Course Support

Math

I was a high school math teacher for four years in Durham Public Schools, where I taught everything from Intro to High School Math for English Language Learners to AP Calculus AB/BC.

I can help middle and high school students with any math course, including Math I - IV, honors and AP precalculus, AP calculus AB/BC, and AP statistics.

I can help college students with most freshman and sophomore math classes (any variation of pre-calculus or Calculus I and II) and statistics through junior year.

Chemistry and Physics

My bachelor's degree is in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, so I continued to use AP chemistry after high school throughout my undergraduate education. I can help students in any high school chemistry course, including AP chemistry, and most freshman and sophomore college chemistry courses.

While at NC State, my part-time job was in the Physics and Math Tutorial Center, and I’ve continued to tutor physics since I graduated. I can help with all levels of high school physics, including AP and IB, and most college freshman and sophomore level physics, including calculus-based.

I started taking Spanish classes in elementary school and took advantage of every opportunity I had to speak once I had enough foundation. So I’ve been speaking Spanish since high school. I earned a minor in Spanish as an undergraduate. Most of the music I listen to is in Spanish and there are many Spanish speakers in my life. I can help students taking classes or adults who want a basic grasp of Spanish for travel, work, or fun.

College Essays

I have helped many students over the years with their college essays. Most years I review applications for the scholarship I was awarded for undergrad. FAQ

Standardized Test Prep

I am an experienced standardized test tutor and have taught test prep courses for some of the big-name companies. My GRE scores were very high as well. I can help students with all sections (math, verbal/reading, and science). FAQ

Excel lessons

Excel is called for in many college courses. Many of my students have reported that professors assume students already know how to use Excel in a statistics or science course, when in fact they do not. So I recommend students enter college with basic Excel proficiency. FAQ

ESOL

As I am working with my students, I try to help them not only with the material at hand, but also help them overcome any issues they may be having with keeping track of assignments, deciding how to study, and managing time.

I am certified to teach ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) in NC via the Praxis exam. My experience learning a foreign language without immersion has given me a better understanding of my native English and its idiosyncrasies. FAQ
